Saint Joseph’s and Drexel received votes in the AP Top 25 preseason poll, released on Friday.
Phil Martelli‘s Hawks got 25 votes, while Bruiser Flint‘s Dragons received 5 votes.
Also, three of Temple’s nonconference opponents were ranked in the top 10: Kansas (7), Duke (8) and Syracuse (9).
Notre Dame, St. Joe’s opponent Nov. 19 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, came in at No. 22.
Atlantic 10 entries VCU, with 58 votes, and St. Louis, with 46, garnered more preseason respect nationally than St. Joe’s despite the fact the Hawks have been selected as the league’s favorite.
