Saint Joseph’s Carl “Tay” Jones has been named Philahoops Player of the Week by Philahoops.com for games played Feb. 13-19.

A 5-foot-11 junior guard, Jones averaged 22 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading the Hawks to a pair of Atlantic 10 wins, over Rhode Island and George Washington, last week. He made 14 of 28 field goals and all 11 free-throw attempts.

Temple’s Khalif Wyatt and Juan Fernandez, Penn’s Zack Rosen and La Salle’s Earl Pettis were named honorable mentions.

Wyatt, a 6-4 junior guard, averaged 20.5 points, 3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals to help the Owls up their winning streak to 10 straight games with Saturday’s win over Duquesne that followed Wednesday’s victory over St. Bonaventure. Wyatt made 14 of 25 field goals, including 3 of 7 3-pointers.

Right behind Wyatt was Fernandez, who netted 36 points in the two games while dishing 10 assists and getting six steals. The 6-4 senior guard made 12 of 21 shots, including 7 of 11 from the arc, and hit all five of his free throws.

Rosen, a 6-1 senior point guard, led Penn to a pair of Ivy wins, over Cornell and Columbia, last week by averaging 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2 steals.

Pettis helped La Salle win at UMass on Saturday night by notching 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. The 6-5 senior guard made 5 of 8 3-pointers.
