Langston Galloway named captain of Saint Joseph’s Hawks

The official beginning of practice on Hawk Hill is not the only adjustment Langston Galloway is making this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the Hawks announced that Galloway was named captain of the 2012-13 Saint Joseph’s Hawks, as voted by his teammates.

Galloway looks to lead his Hawks through the new look A10 with expectations soaring; the Hawks were picked to win the conference in the league’s preseason poll in addition to receiving two votes in this week’s USA Today coaches preseason poll.

It’s easily understood why Galloway’s teammates trusted the junior with captain responsibilities; over his first two years, the 6’2 guard has defined consistency.

During his freshmen campaign, Galloway led the A10 in free throw percentage (88.7) while leading the Hawks in three-point percentage (39.2) and three-pointers made (65). He was the team’s leading rebounder (5.5) and second leading scorer (12.8), while going on to earn team MVP honors.

Last season Galloway was an All-Big 5 First Team selection, led the A10 in three-point percentage (46.6) and was the second leading scorer on the Hawks (15.5). As the season came to a close, he was named team MVP for the second consecutive year.

As the 2012-13 season quickly approaches, Galloway adds the title of team captain to his list of accolades and accomplishments.
