The History of Philahoops.com
Philahoops.com was launched in December 2010 by Aaron Bracy, an experienced sports journalist who has written for the Associated Press, Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and the Trentonian. Bracy, a graduate of St. Joseph’s University and longtime fan of Philadelphia college basketball, initially covered games and offered his insight on Drexel, La Salle, Penn, Temple, Saint Joseph’s and Villanova’s basketball teams.
In 2011, the site was relaunched as a full-blown website. Since then, it has been redesigned and has added a talented staff of young writers. In 2012, Philahoops launched two new sites based upon the success of the original. PhilahoopsW, which is edited by famed Philadelphia writer Mel Greenberg, covered nine area women’s basketball teams. PhilahoopsHigh featured coverage of local high school basketball.
